BUSINESS SITUATIONS: Deal with customers in English once a month in a meeting and by email and other technical documents every day. Would like to be able have a social discussion with work colleagues. SUBJECT OR TOPIC: Talk about the summer holidays, finish lesson plan about quantifiers and do an exercise to practice phrasal verbs LANGUAGE FUNCTIONS: UNITS: VOCABULARY: Bretagne=Britanny, à côté de (FR)=next to (EN), catamaran, forest fires, basket (FR)=trainers (EN), beneficial, demotivated PHRASES / EXPRESSIONS: It’s not rocket science (idiom), throw away (phrasal verb), go on (phrasal verb), look after (phrasal verb), get along (phrasal verb), give up (phrasal verb) GRAMMAR: We was very lucky=we were very lucky When you throw away something, you discard it, usually putting it in a rubbish container because you don’t need it anymore. If you go on doing something, you continue doing something. Similarly, if a situation goes on, it continues to happen. If you look after someone or something, you take care of them. For example, parents look after their children. If two people get along or if you get along with someone, you have a friendly relationship with them. If you give up something or doing something, you stop doing it or having it completely. For example, doctors often tell patients to give up smoking. PRONUNCIATION: OTHER: FEEDBACK: PROGRESS: HOMEWORK: Next time, we are going to look at the rules for quantifiers and also do a short exercise to practice these. And as we didn’t get time today, here is a short video for review and discussion next time – enjoy!
