BUSINESS SITUATIONS: I work a lot with people around the world including English including presentations, emails and other correspondence. I understand very well but I struggle with speaking and need to improve my grammar and pronunciation. SUBJECT OR TOPIC: Talk about upcoming holidays to Corsica and best way to travel, exercise to practice difference between gerund & infinitive, exercise to practice modal verbs and watch video about a Life on our Planet with questions LANGUAGE FUNCTIONS: Vocabulary and grammar UNITS: VOCABULARY: Ferry, marvel, tame, overrun GRAMMAR: Smaller distance=shorter distance Followed by a gerund (-ing form) admit, advise, consider, discuss, dislike, dread, enjoy, finish, mind, practise, recommend, suggest Followed by an infinitive agree, appear, choose, decide, expect, fail, hope, learn, need, refuse, seem, wait, want Followed by either, usually with no change in meaning begin, continue, hate, like, love, prefer, start Followed by either, with a change in meaning forget, regret, remember, stop, try We say suggest or recommend + -ing We say suggest or recommend + -ing We use the continuous infinitive (be doing) after a modal verb for actions that are in progress now or around now. You must be confusing me = ‘I'm sure you are confusing me.’ ‣ We can use might or may to say that we think something is possible but we’re not sure. ‣ It could/might be dangerous = ‘Perhaps it's dangerous.’ OTHER: PRONUNCIATION: PHRASES: PROGRESS: FEEDBACK: HOMEWORK: Next time, we are going to do a short exercise to practice common idioms. You also mentioned sharing some documents that you had translate so perhaps you could do this in our session on Friday so I can look at this?
