VOCABULARY / EXPRESSIONS
Cards & Payment
Debit Card – carte bancaire, you pay with money already in your account in real time.
Credit Card – borrowing money from the bank, payment is deferred or charged later; the bank puts a hold on the amount.
Charge – facturer / to ask someone to pay for a product or service.
Commission – fee charged for a service.
Documents
Receipt – reçu, proof of payment.
Invoice – facture, official bill for goods or services.
Banking Actions
Withdraw cash – retirer de l’argent de votre compte ou d’un distributeur.
Deposit cash – déposer de l’argent sur votre compte.
Change money / Currency exchange – donner une devise et recevoir une autre.
Banking Terms
Balance – solde, the amount of money in your account.
Overdraft – découvert, when you spend more money than your balance.
Bills – paper money / notes.
Exchange rate – taux de change, how much one currency is worth compared to another.
